Cumann Seanchais na Banndan is a Bandon's local history society, dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the history and heritage of the town and surrounding area. Since 1979, the Society has supported historical research through talks, visits, publications, and community events.

Visit to St Multose Church , Kinsale and 9/11 Garden of Remembrance
Join us for a guided visit to the historic St. Multose Church, rich in heritage and local stories. The tour will be led by Dermot Ryan, who will share fascinating insights into the church’s past and its significance within the community.
Following this, we will visit the nearby 9/11 Garden of Remembrance, a reflective space dedicated to the memory of those lost in the events of September 11th, 2001. Dermot will provide context and background to this unique and moving memorial.
Parking is available at the Library Car Park (P17 XK72).

Learn about dramatic rescues, the evolution of lifeboats, and the courage and commitment of the volunteer crews who have served the local community for generations.

Meet at Clock Tower at 11am sharp
Join us for an enjoyable and informative visit to the historic town of Youghal. We will meet at the iconic Youghal Clock Tower at 11:00 sharp to begin our day.
Our visit includes entry to the remarkable St Mary's Collegiate Church, a stunning medieval church steeped in centuries of history (entrance €5).
There will also be an optional visit to the Youghal Film and Photography Museum (entry €5), offering a unique glimpse into the town’s cinematic connections and visual heritage.
Our guide for the day, Wayne Ruxton, will lead us through Youghal’s rich past, sharing stories, insights, and hidden gems along the way.
A wonderful opportunity to explore history, culture, and community in one of Cork’s most charming coastal towns.

Visit to River Lee Waterworks

Join us for an engaging visit to the Cork City Waterworks, beautifully situated along the River Lee. This fascinating site offers a glimpse into Cork’s industrial and engineering heritage.
