About Cumann Seanchais na Banndan
Cumann Seanchais na Banndan (Bandon Local History Association) was founded in 1979 with the aim of preserving, studying, and promoting the rich history and heritage of Bandon and its surrounding area.
The Association brings together people with an interest in local history, genealogy, archaeology, folklore, and social history. Through talks, lectures, publications, outings, and exhibitions, we seek to record and share the stories of the town and district — from its earliest beginnings to more recent times.
Cumann Seanchais na Banndan is committed to safeguarding historical records, photographs, maps, and memories for future generations. We work to encourage research, support local historical projects, and foster a greater appreciation of Bandon’s unique place in the history of West Cork.
Membership is open to all, whether you are a long-time resident, a newcomer, or someone with family connections to the area. We welcome anyone who shares an interest in discovering and celebrating the past of Bandon and its people.
