The Bandon Historical Journals, published by Cumann Seanchais na Banndan since 1979, form an important and enduring record of the history and heritage of Bandon and its surrounding area. Established alongside the founding of the Association, the journals reflect a long-standing commitment to researching, recording, and sharing local history.
Each volume contains original research by local historians and contributors with a deep knowledge of the area. Articles explore a wide range of subjects, including local families, townlands, notable buildings, schools, churches, industries, social life, and significant historical events. Memoirs, transcriptions of historical documents, photographs, and studies in folklore and genealogy are also featured.
Milestone Editions
Over the decades, a number of editions of the Bandon Historical Journals have marked significant milestones in the life of the publication. Anniversary volumes have celebrated key moments in the history of both the town and the Association, while themed editions have focused on particular aspects of local life, such as notable families, institutions, or periods of social change. Collectively, these milestone editions chart the evolving story of Bandon and reflect the growing depth and breadth of local historical research since 1979.
